Dorian began his life at the end of the 15th century. He doesn't remember where he was hatched exactly, but he is sure that he grew up around the Scottish Moors (in hiding). This was a difficult period of history for dragons. People had begun to attribute tales of dragon good-deeds as nothing but myth. See, a few hundred years earlier dragons had been hunted to near extinction by courageous knights looking for sport to prove their skills and gain fame throughout the land. People only remembered how voraciously dragons fought; they didn't understand that dragons were only trying to defend themselves. Dorian's parents were lucky to escape the unrelenting decimation of their race and find refuge on the Scottish coast where few men thought dragons would or could survive. After all, has anyone ever heard of dragons living in Scotland?

In time, mankind began to doubt the existence of dragons in the land. The only tales of dragons told across the generations were tales of horror and the knights of old had done mankind a favor with their "heroic" deeds. Many believed that if dragons had ever existed at all, they were blood thirsty animals. This just isn't true. Dorian and his family had hidden themselves well indeed by only traveling at night to forage for food. They were intelligent creatures and didn't want to hurt anyone. Then one night while Dorian was still young, his parents were killed as they were flying home during a storm. Eventually, Dorian was feeling very lonely and he was discovered as he curiously watched the humans that crossed his path; this caused great fear among the villagers. Dorian didn't know what they would try to do to him so he decided to flee the Moors looking for someplace where he could be safe and perhaps he could find friends.

Luckily, he found the "Adopt-A-Dragon Foundation". Once there, he found safety at last. The foundation was home to many dragons and they taught Dorian very much about his race and how he should be proud of his heritage. They also encouraged him to find a human friend. After all, times had changed over the centuries. Mankind were no longer afraid of the unknown as they had been in the past. While at the foundation, Dorian learned many things and he discovered that he also enjoyed learning. His favorite subject was history and he realized how much he had missed while in hiding on the Moors.

When Schoolmarm visited the foundation, she and Dorian became good friends because they both loved history and Dorian knew she could teach him so much more. Schoolmarm invited Dorian to visit her castle and when he experienced the enchanting historical atmosphere of the castle that was filled with fun historical games and programs. . . he felt that he had found his home at last! Soon, he was formally adopted, and even now, some can even hear his purrs of contentment as he wanders the halls of his new home.
